The navigation bar is on the left of the "DevOps Manual" icon in the Figure 6. The functionality of each tab in the navigation bar is explained in Table 1.
Tab Name | Functionality |
Activity | This tab is a summary of all of the activities for all of the teams that you are in. This is a hub for all notifications you might get from all of your teams. Notifications may include the addition of new members, changes to the team, and adding a new channel to the team. |
Chat | The chat tab is where you can chat to other people who are on Microsoft Teams. These people are not limited to your team. Instead the chat tab is a method of directly messaging a person or group of people. |
Teams | In the “Teams” tab, you will find all of the teams that you are a member of. This tab is used to navigate quickly from team to team if you are in multiple teams. When a team is clicked in this tab, the general channel will be previewed. |
Schedule | The schedule tab has all of the events that your teams have planned. This includes what may be due for you personally or other team events that may be scheduled. |
Calls | This shows all of the recent calls that you have been a part of. Here you can send and accept call notifications. |
Files | Here you can find all of the files that you have downloaded. Also this acts as a spot to access files from your Microsoft OneDrive. |
Within each team, channels can be created that can be dedicated for specific things. These are similar to Discord channels if you are familiar with that application. For example, when creating a new team, there will be a general channel that may be for general announcements to the team. Other channels can be created to streamline information to specific groups of people. Members in the group may be working on a specific part of the project and want to keep their communications and files separate from other sub-groups, may elect to use a separate channel to keep their communications lines clear.
